IS AN ANNUAL, COLLABORATIVE, COMMUNITY SERVICE CAMPAIGN
THAT STARTED IN SAN DIEGO, CA.
Over the past fifteen years PROJ25 has helped inspire and fund the ideas of thousands of students to creatively make an impact in their schools, communities, city, and the world. We have been blown away by the incredible creativity, innovation, and passion displayed by students doing a wide range of projects. From helping the homeless, financially assisting classmates battling cancer, beach clean-ups, to sending care packages to military overseas, sponsoring children in poverty, funding clean water projects internationally, and translating the Bible for new people groups to read. These students are truly changing the world!
Since 2009 the PROJ25 campaign has donated over 200,000 hours of community service towards projects around the globe. Each spring we open the campaign up to schools/clubs that register online at proj25.org. We then hand out $100 mini-grants and ask each school/club to brainstorm, plan, and execute their project within an eight-week timeframe, and then make a 90-second film documenting their work.
2024 Projects are then judged by: Creativity and Innovation, Breadth and Depth of Impact, Sustainability, People Involved, and Money Raised. Each year we wrap up the PROJ25 campaign by hosting a huge awards show called the Campus Awards that features celebrities, musical artists, and pro-athletes along with red carpet photos, give-aways, and trophies for the top 3 projects.

As El Capitan High School got called onto the stage as the fourth-place winner for the 2024 Project 25 Competition, I felt immense gratitude for our team and everyone who worked alongside our club to make this possible. For our project, we were unsure about what cause to support until we heard of a local tragedy. In 2023, a family in Alpine lost their historic home to a fire, displacing multiple families. Our El Capitan Higher Ground Club felt moved to aid this family, so throughout the school year, we worked on fundraisers to support the family in finding a new home and for essential living costs. Our club brainstormed for months and eventually agreed to raise the money by selling candy and hosting a car wash. With the help of community members, we donated $1500 to the family. In addition to the family, our club decided to work in conjunction with the El Capitan Baseball team to clean up our campus for hours, providing the school with an in-kind donation of $1450. Although it was stressful at times organizing the fundraisers and reaching out to the community for donations, the experience ultimately brought the Higher Ground Club members closer because of our shared love of serving God by serving people.
Winning first place in the 2024 Project 25 competition was an unbelievable experience for me and my community. After doing multiple projects years before this project was different and special because my club was united more than ever and we all came together to create something big. After talking with other students we were able to connect to a community in need located in a landfill in Tecate, Baja California. After much planning, early mornings, and late nights, we were able to fundraise money, clothes, and sanitary items to that community in need. The most impactful moment was seeing my community from my school club serving an abandoned community in need and seeing both worlds collide. This moment was a realization for me that God has amazing plans for us, his kids, if we are willing to say yes to the calling he has for us.
